Sorry to say that, if my investigations are correct, the new live edit feature in 4.5.0 doesn't get us beyond what was possible before.

While in operate mode, the long-established function editor can be selected and can edit any function without the results being visible on the stage (blind edit).

When you edit a currently running function, the edited version is used the next time that fuction is replayed. No need to leave operate mode and no unwanted blackouts.

What I, and I suspect others, really need is to be able to edit (one of) the currently running functions and see the results immediately on the stage and, having finished the edit, continue replaying the next functions with no unwanted blackout

I hear you.
Then I need to spend some serious time on this and do a lot of tests.

By the way, what happens if you disable the blind mode ? Does it act "live" or keep on changing the scene "offline" ?

O.k. - I see that the live editor opens in blind edit mode. I wasn't expecting that!

If the live editor opens with blind mode off, this solves about 75% of the problem as LTP channels now work as expected with changes immediately visible on stage.

HTP channels now work as expected if the values set are increased, but not if you try to lower them.

The other remaining issue is how fast the function to be edited live can be selected.

I think the function selector window should only show the functions (including those forming part of a collection) which are running when the "live edit a function button" is pressed. Otherwise I have a list of about 200 scenes to scroll through in the project that I was using to test the feature.

If only one function is running at the time, the editor for the function could open immediately.

Hello, I've played live with 4.5.0 last 2 days and I also find the new live edit feature not very practical for now, correct me if I'm missing something:

- now if one wants to change the timing in the chaser the output goes to blackout (a work around is to use the cue timing instead of the chaser one)

- in scene editor it's not possible any more to change to cue name

- it's possible to work off blind mode but the cue needs to be reloaded anyway to update levels on stage - so this isn't an option during a live show

Have a good sunday

To all the Linux geeks that can compile from sources, on GIT there are some improvements on the live edit functionality.
Thanks particularly to Giacomo's precious feedbacks.

Any other feedback is welcome !

Guys, I think we have a working live editing now !
If you have any chance to test the GIT sources, please let me know.
