I'm having a hell of a time understanding the logic behind QLC+, and would really love if someone could teach me the basics. I'm willing to pay for your services.
Currently working with 4 Chauvet SlimPAR 56 lights. If you can teach me how to manage those efficiently, I'm sure I could get enough grasp to go from there.
Would someone be interested in working through the basics of QLC+ with me on Skype?

I have done the tutorial. I would like to be able to setup the virtual console for live shows (I'm mostly doing bands), and also create synced shows in the show manager.
One example of something dumb I'm trying to figure out how to do: In my virtual console, I have buttons for red, green, blue, etc. I'd like to add a button that causes whatever color is on to start strobing, but for some reason I can't seem to do it without creating a new scene for things like "Red strobe", "Blue strobe", etc.

First, it may help if you tell us what fixtures do you have/use.
To your problem: make your Red/Green/Blue scenes so that they contain only the channels needed to set the color (in my case, GLP Volkslicht, I would use only the Red - #6, Green #7 and Blue #8 channels). Put checkboxes only where needed.
Now you can make the Strobe scene: put there the channel, that contains strobing (in my case, it is "Shutter" - #9) and value that causes strobing, (in my case 240).
You may want to make that Strobe button a "flash" button, instead of default on/off.
You may also make scenes/buttons/slider for dimmer channel, etc.

I've tried that, and the strobe turns on, but never shuts back off.

The problem is that Red/Green/Blue and Dimmer are HTP channels, while Strobe is LTP, that means the last value stays. If you don't know what HTP or LTP is, see Glossary in the QLC+ online help (or google it, "Highest takes precedence", "Latest takes precedence").
QLC+ uses HTP for intensity channels (e.g. RGB, CMY, Dimmer), and for all others it uses LTP.
One way to workaround it is to make a solo frame, and add two buttons: Strobe ON and Strobe OFF (see attached workspace). You can also use a fader for controlling strobe speed instead of a button.
Another way is to change group of the strobe channel in the definition of the fixture from Shutter to Intensity, making it HTP.
