the same happens in a laptop dual core amd turon connexent audio card
without capturing the cpu is 2 to 8% load

Athlon64 3400+ is a 12 years old, single core processor with slow RAMs.
On that core QLC+ has to process audio data (FFT) and do visual rendering of the bars.

I don't think that computer is enough for that specific functionality.

The AMD Turion (X2?) is 10 years old as well.
Unfortunately QLC+ can't do miracles.

whats the system requirements. to actualy be able to work with fft turon x2 still load 100* cpu

There are quite a few variables in the game when playing with audio triggers:
1) the fftw computation
2) how many bars you're using
3) the graphics real-time rendering of the bars in the UI

I would say #3 is the most expensive. Can you try to monitor the CPU while QLC+ is reduced to the task bar ?
Otherwise place the audio trigger widget into a multi page frame and change page once you enable it, so the widget gets hidden.

See if it gets any better.

i will try it with hidden ever with the minimum triguers i get 100% load after stopping the trigger and reactivating it on the first activation i get 13% cpu load

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand.

Who is reproducing the audio source ? The PC itself ? (I think I see Windows Media Player ?)
Are you sure it's not the one causing the high CPU load ?
Can you try with an external audio source ? Like a hifi or just by clapping your hands ?

100% or 13% doesn't make much sense to me. The CPU usage should be almost constant in QLC+.
Close every other program running on that PC. Make sure there's no antivirus running or other processes that can cause CPU spikes. Since you have a limited hardware, you need to optimize it to the bone to leave as much CPU as possible to QLC+.

so i put screenshot with audio triggers from mic input
the fist time is when i click on the green v the frist time when i reclick on it the triggers are disable and when i reclick on the green v to re enable the triggers the cpu load is going 100%

That is weird indeed.
I'm starting to suspect this is a Windows related issue.
I tried on Linux and the CPU usage is quite constant. I need to try on Windows myself and see if I can reproduce the behaviour.

It would be interesting to see if QLC+ and Linux on your machine have a better behaviour.
There a "live images" that you can find on the internet that you can put on a USB pendrive and boot your computer with it. (so no need to actually install Linux on your PC) Then you'd just need to install QLC+ and perform the test again.

Sooner or later I'll have to write a tutorial how to do this, so Windows users can try QLC+ on Linux and compare the performance differences...

i will try it with linux i prefer linux my self but because i use it in bar club and most of the staff there dont know how to use linux i stay on windows. Most people see linux like you have to be a software developer to use it. thanks to understand the problem and hope this will fix I love qlc + but this hold me back to use it as main lightning software

so good news and bad news i was able to make it to work entirely and partially on linux what i mean
I tested with 2 sounds cards
a usb hercules gamesurround muse pocket and a via 3059 with a realtek alc655 internal sound card
- on the usb hercules gamesurround muse pocket i was abeled to stop audio triggers restart audio triggers switch to operate mode and stop it and restart it with no problem at all without any lags

- on my internal via 3059 with a realtek alc655 i start triggers stop triggers without any problems but when i switch to operate mode and disable it and re-enable it the audio triggers will lags.

the pc used is a athlon64 3400+ with 2gb ram linux distro tested is lubuntu 14.04 i386

the same problem remained on windows with cpu load 100% with both cards

the qlc version used is 4.9.0 git edition compiled from source with qt4

Hello,

I got exactly the same problem on my old IBM T43 with QLC 4.8.3.
I don't think the problem comes from spec of our PC since it works perfectly on first time we activate audio trigger.

Im glad to hear that im not the only one i would like to know were i can find the source code of the fft module so i could have a look at it i know this isnt the specs the fft are lightweight and qlc + in general so this is good for having a pc running long hours

Unfortunately Mixalisfr, I can't help you to analyze the code but I really appreciate if you found a solution ;)

Hi everyone,

Same problem on my old laptop, Intel Pentium dual-core 1.73Ghz, 2GB DDR2, Windows XP SP3, with QLC+ latest version 4.9.0.

The only way to solve it : stop production mode, uncheck/check audio source on edition mode, and get back to production mode. :(
