HI Folks!

I'm really looking forward to using this software but have hit a problem early on.

QLC+ cannot not find my Enttec usb/dmx interface.

I have had a search through the forum and read the manual, I must be missing something simple so please help a newbie and point me at the solution.

Thanks very much!

Mac OSX 10.6.8
Q light controller 4.7.2
Enttec DMX USB PRO mk2 firmware 4.8

The Enttec is present as a USB device under 'hardware' from the apple menu, so the Mac has seen it.
Enttec's Pro Manager (V2.2) utility can find the box and I ran a DMX loop back test which was fine.

In the input/ output window of QLC+ I simply get no option to use the USB/DMX plugin and clicking on it to try a force refresh pops up the dialogue box but 'refresh' does nothing, no list of possible supported hardware appears for me to select from, it's most strange, could the plug ins be 'missing'?

As noted from the manual, QLC+ and OSX does not need drivers but Enttec's Pro Manager appears to be the preferred way to install them, I assume that means any drivers provided would be of the D2XX variety since this is what Enttec recommends, and I note, this should not conflict with the OSX USB driver.

I ran the utility to check for VPC drivers on the system, and I have none.

I also tried uninstall / reinstalls / reboots and some older versions of QLC+ but still no joy.

So... help!

Thanks again, great project, it's been fun getting my lampie head back on.

Quick update,

I have installed QLC+ 4.7.2 on another machine.

Mac Book Pro, OSX 10.8.5.
This time I ignored the install of Enttec's Pro Manager utility and just started QLC+ with the DMX/ USB box plugged in and everything worked just fine.

I noted that during QLC+ launch the progress bar flashes up 'USB' and 'DMX' which the other (above)installation does not do...

Whilst it seems unlikely, is it possible that the Enttec Pro-Manager utility might be cause of the original problem? I still need to get QLC+ and the USB / DMX interface running on the older OSX 10.6.8 box.

Thanks again for any pointers or ideas.

Same here

We have a MacBookPro on 10.6.8, enttec pro (1st version) and QLC+ 4.7.2 and the box doesn't appear in QLC+ as the same box appears in 4.7.2 on a ubuntu 14.04...

Enttec Pro & QLC+ 4.7.2 :

As the box doesn't appear in Mac OSX 10.6.8, it appears on Gnome Ubuntu 14.04 that i have only the "emission part" available, and not the recetion.

Interesting Nikoyes,

I have tried a clean install of Mountain Lion 6 and QLC+ 4.7.2, this does not see the Enttec box, allowing the software to upgrade to OXS 10.6.8 does not help either.

I think my postulation that the Enttec utility might have been to blame is discredited, apologies due to Enttec!

I am going to to try taking this install up to Mountain Lion 10.8.5, which was the only version where QLC+ could see the USB/ DMX interface, even though in all the above instances the Mac itself had seen the hardware and listed it as installed. However, the UK Apple store will not let me re-download Mountain Lion. Thou shalt install Mavericks...

I'm thinking about Linux...

Thanks again

Just to make sure, you haven't overseen it.

Did you disable the FTDI serial driver after installing OSX? The driver Apple includes with newer versions of OS X collides with D2XX.

There's an app for that called FTDIDriverControl, which is downloadable here:

http://www.enttec.com/support-center/kb ... _IMPORTANT

Disabling the driver using this tool did the trick for me.

Keep in mind, the latest OS X update to 10.9.3 reinstalled the driver on my system so I had to use FTDIDriverControl again to enable QLC+.

Hope this helps with your problem too.

Hi Sascha, thanks for link.

I tried this and the tool could not find the driver running, searching the system did not show it up either so it doesn't seem to be a driver conflict...

I have finally installed a copy of mountain lion and now QLC+ can see the Enttec Pro so I am up and running.

It's a shame, but I could just not find a way to get QLC+ to see the DMX box on my 10.6.8 install. I would have liked to know why it was unavailable.

Anyway, time to jump on the learning curve and get to grips with QLC+ !

Thanks for all the replies!

Sorry, that it didn't help. But I'm glad I pinned it here as my Macbook refused to work with my OpenDMX after the installation of the Yosemite DP1. After some interrogation I remembered that thread and read through it just to find my own comment. o_O

And yes, the upgrade once again reenabled the serial driver. ;-)

By the way: Would you please check Audio Triggers? As it seems I can not get them to work, no matter which Mac I try. (Besides the Bootcamp-Option, where it works well.)
