I am currently doing a theater show with QLC+ and it works fairly well with a few minor issues (mostly caused because im still learning this layout a lot of my favorite buttons from QLC are in a completely different places lol). the only really big issue im having here is that the director wants the lights to fade on and off like you would see if you were to raise a dimmer channel on a board. i accomplished this for the fade on by setting the blackout scene and the full-on scene in a chaser with a 1s fade time. the problem is the second chaser for fade out doesn't work. it wont shut off the lights. the only way to shut them off is to kill the running function (aka the fadeup chaser) but then the lights simply snap back off which isnt what the director wants. this is a simple show. 2 gigantic buttons oon and off so if i can get this one request working they'll be happy. what can i do to accomplish this. i have set the fade in and fadeout times to 1s thinking that unpressing the button would trigger the fadeout time and fade to black, but no. im at a loss.
thanks in advance!
fade up and fade down
I'm not sure I completely understand either. But did you try putting a blackout scene after the full-on scene?
Blackout scene -> (1s fade in) full on -> (1s Fade in) Blackout
Blackout scene -> (1s fade in) full on -> (1s Fade in) Blackout
Im not sure which part you guys arent understanding, so let me explain it a different way to clear up confusion.
i need 2 buttons on and off. the director doesnt want the fixtures to pop on and off she wants them to fade on and off so it looks more natural. 2 chasers fadeup and fadedown.
fadeup contains 2 scenes 0 and 100
fadedown contains 2 scenes 100 and 0
both have a fade time of 1s
clicking fadeup works, clicking fadedown after does nothing. if i kill all running functions, or click the fadeup button again then the lights pop off (not the desired effect).
now independently each chaser runs correctly. if there are no running functions and i hit fadedown, then the lights pop on and fade down as they should.
fadedown will not work if fadeup has been clicked.

it seems that QLC+ is stalling on the last step in the most recently run chaser, which is stopping other chasers or scenes from starting until that chaser is killed (via either a second click of the button or the end functions button). i would assume that the chaser set to one shot should finish its function and leave the values as they are not simply stall on the last step and wait to be unclicked, but it would seem im incorrect.
does this clear things up?
i will post the workspace tomorrow night as i do not have access to it again until tomorrow night's rehearsal (its on a custom "board" which is at the venue)

It may help if you put those buttons in a solo frame, so that when you push fade off, fade in is disengaged.
The chaser should obviously go off at the end, it looks like a bug. But I suppose that this bug keeps your lights on otherwise they would go off.

Ditto on the solo frame advice.
On each scene set the fade up time for 1 second, but on the up scene set the fade out to 1s as well.
I wouldn't use a chaser at all, just the 2 buttons.
I uploaded a file with 2 LED fixtures, up to white and down to black. Seemed to work the way I think you need it to.

hi,
i understand, what you are trying to achieve. if you post your workspace here, i will solve the problem for you and send it back.

As Jared Pietrowicz says, unless you NEED a chaser, it's much easier to apply a fade to scenes.
I seem to be having a very similar issue - if I set the 'Fade In' - it seems to always start from BLACK - where as I would expect it to Fade from the current values to the new values over the period specified. Transitions between scenes should be smooth and not always have to go via BLACK.
Am I doing something wrong ?

SORTED - I've just managed to sort this out using a FadeOut from each of the scenes that you want it to Fade from ...
Sorry this has been bugging me for ages ...
