Hi, I've got 2 points here but thought I'd merge them to save space/time.

1) I've just downloaded 4.7.1 for Windows (running Win 7 64bit) and I've noticed that the program is looking like it's running on XP or another older version of Windows. This is rather hard to explain but the buttons look 'greyer' than usual and 'older'. I've uploaded a photo for reference. Should it be like this?

2) Whilst using the software recently I realised it can be quite hard to make urgent adjustments to scenes if the production is quite 'fast paced' (ie. you're having to change the lighting scene quite often). May I suggest being able to select scenes/use the program while the live edit window is open? This may be unachieveable but if it is possible I think it would make live shows a little easier.

Re # 1 - I also noticed that. I much preferred the look and feel of 4.7.0. I see there was an update to "Windows: changes to use Qt 4.8.6 and GCC 4.8 " and maybe that is the reason it is looking less attractive.

Hmm. Sounds about right. I mainly use QLC+ on Ubuntu so this doesn't effect me too much but I do certainly prefer the old (newer) Windows look

Re #1 - It looks like v4.7.2 is back to the good looks - yay!!

Yeah. 4.7.2 puts a stone upon the pityful experience of Qt 4.8.6 too.

Thanks! Call me too fussy but I can't stand programs with nice friendly GUI icons but old styles.

Regarding my second point, is this at all possible/practical?
Massimo Callegari

(Almost) everything is achievabale in software but if I understand it right your suggestion requires a big effort to be implemented.
The thing I always say in these cases is that the original QLC was designed to handle the design and operate mode separately.
I forced it a little bit with the live edit feature, but forcing too much can introduce instabilities and unwanted things.

I already started to design QLC+ 5.0 in my mind. I'll keep in mind this need too, unless my head explodes before...

Here's my take on this. Instead of trying to edit the scene, what would work is the ability to tweak parameters (channels) of fixtures or like for like fixtures. When I do set-up, I define a number of sliders that controls some of the functionality of my fixtures. Some of them are one channel to a slider and some are the same channel of many fixtures.

Using click & go RGB I can get 3 channels on one slider (there are enhancements possible here).

Now during live I am calling up scenes via solo buttons or cue lists. At the moment, I get what is programmed and I cannot get to the individual channels. However, if the sliders updates as the scene changes the underlying channels, then I could tweak the live scene by adjusting the channels directly.

This could be extended with a save button. In this case QLC+ knows which scene is playing and what fixtures are involved, so once I have tweaked it in live, the save button would update the relevant scene(s) so that the next time it is called it has the tweaked version. If you do not save then the original version is recalled and you can either apply the same tweak or apply a completely new tweak.

Furthermore click & go can be enhanced as follows:
* to use dimmer channels for the RGB slider (one slider saved);
* the colour selector can be extended to work (optionally) using the existing full colour picker;
* the full colour picker can be extended to include white and amber values (2 more sliders saved for RGBAW fixtures);
* the colour picker could also be extended to use a library of saved colours (RGBAW values) that allows me to quickly select from a list of favourites for the show or a longer list: typically RGBAW equivalents/replacements of gel filters.

With these enhancements one would require a single slider per RGB or RGBAW par can, so one can fit a lot of them on a page of a frame. Ad a few sliders for the moving head and a few subs then it becomes quite feasible to update selected channels in live mode

The live update of sliders is an idea I've liked for some time. The page design of the latest production I've used QLC+ for consisted of a few pages of buttons in a solo frame plus a couple of pages at the bottom for sliders linking to all the lights' channels (don't you love a stage full of only 1 channel dimmers...).

The manual sliders were good for adding extra light where needed (there were multiple stages in the room and a few actors got it a little wrong..) however these only work above the DMX value being sent from the scene. I'm not suggesting that this be changed (as I can think of times where it's really useful) however I think that a live update of sliders is something that'd be really useful if feasible.

Anyway, as always, I'll end on thanking all involved in this project and remind you how much easier this makes things than a 24 channel dimmer board!
