Hi, I've been working on this project for the past few weeks and everything was working fine. Now I've somehow lost the ability for the show to control my lights... (they work when I test them in the Virtual Console but when I play the show nothing turns on...)
I tried everything to fix this and just can't find the answer... Could someone help?
It was working perfectly fine before...
Thanks.

Did you mean to attach the workspace file? No-one will be able to offer much help unless you do.
Caroline Lacroix

Here it is. I just have one step in the show as an example.

Hi, just checked. You have no input/output set and the only step in your show does nothing at all.

Does it ring a bell ? :)
Caroline Lacroix

My output was set to Enttec open USB... what do you mean by the step in my show does nothing at all? I was trying to have all channels fade on and off as a test and thats what I thought that step was doing?
Massimo Callegari

OK, you're right. DMX USB is set in the project but since I don't have one connected it looked like nothing was set.

The step has only one channel enabled and its value is zero. Means it won't do anything.
To fade in and out you need to set the channel value to a meaningful number. Then you'll see your 3s fades

Thank you Massimo, I'll change that and see if it fixes my problem. I'm a bit confused by where you have to set the channel value... in the bottom of the screen in Show Manager, there is a tab called channels Group and an other called Dimmer, which of these sliders do I want to change?
(Than you for your patience!)
Massimo Callegari

Wow, these are very basic questions. I suggest you to watch my video tutorials about fixtures and scenes.
Channels control single DMX lines, while channel groups control a group of channels at once. They're basically a shortcut to reduce design times when dealing with dozens/hundred of channels

Thanks Massimo...I think I figured out what was happening. (I've watched all the tutorials and have been working with this software for about a month so I'm getting quite familiar with it.)

I think the problem was a bug... When I gave a value to the channels and clicked play on the show, the values were automatically reset to zero each time, which is why nothing was happening. (and why I was getting confused with the purpose of the sliders..)

I restarted my computer and unplugged-replugged the dimmer and restarted QLC+ and my values were sticking to the channels after that. THANKS SO MUCH for your help, I really love how present you are on this forum to help us all out!

All the best!
Matthew Marks

Amen to that.

You know there's this peculiarity where if you move a slider on the Simple Desk, it blocks access to that channel from the Virtual Console until you press the reset universe button? This caught me out (I thought I had a dead dimmer at one point) and I think it should be addressed quite soon. It's discussed here: https://sourceforge.net/p/qlcplus/discu ... /7da20e6a/
Caroline Lacroix

Okay so I reset the universe from the simple desk and then turned my channel slider all the way up and my show is back to not working. I attached a new version of the file I'm working with. Matt, I checked out that forum and it seems to be exactly what is happening to me with the show but I can't seem to fix it!
