Was here before (Install help, Mac 10.8.4, Arduino Uno).I gave up and dropped the Uno and got the micro dmx usb interface from DMXking.QLC+ sees the device as Enttec Pro, has a ser # shown (6AWnnnn),but does not output dmx.I have Ola installed also; if I start Ola, it also sees the dongle (as ser #86nnnnn)and I can control DMX using the panel in Ola. I also have a windows machine, where the DMXking config utility works fine, but QLC+ again has no dmx output.
DMXking said this:
"The device has 2 serial numbers. The one starting with 6A is the FTDI USB serial port chip S/N and starting with 84 is the internal device serial number. For reference the Enttec Pro device also has 2 serial numbers.
Some software packages use the FTDI serial number for ID which is not so wise but we have no control over that. If OLA and the ultraDMX Configuration Utility work then there's nothing wrong with both hardware and drivers.
From memory you need to disable the virtual serial port driver on a MAC if the software you are using wants to access the FTDI device by direct D2XX driver. This is probably why it's not working on your MAC with QLC+ and MagicQ. See http://ftdichip.com/ for a MAC driver guide.
Both VCP and D2XX drivers run side by side on Windows so there must be an incorrect configuration in QLC+ and MagicQ."

I tried the above & removed ftdi and added in the D2xx drivers, same result.
QLC+ tools sees the device as an Enttec Pro TX with the 6AW ser # I did try changing it to open dmx, same result.

The only common thread I see is that software that sees the device as 86nnn ser# works. But software that sees the 6AWnnnn ser # does not work. Any suggestions for my next step?

Thanks
Dave

QLC+ reads the internal serial number (ESTA extension), following the suggestion of the DMXKing team.
Honestly I am no expert on OSX but if QLC+ detects the device is a good sign.
The fact it doesn't ouput anything sounds like a driver conflict to me.

That is helpful. QLC+ is listing the 6A #, when it should be seeing the internal 86 #. I will remove everything and start fresh. Thanks.

One more question. Where is the manual/help file location?

Update, as best I could I removed all FTDI related files from the Mac, and all dmx software, rebooted, reloaded, still does not work (OLA does:(
Using Parallels, I added the FTDI drivers and QLC+ on the virtual XP machine, works fine. Not what I wanted, but I guess I'll settle for now.

Documentation is available from inside QLC+. Just click on the blue question mark icon.
Otherwise you need to dig inside the DMG package. I don't remember the location right now, but you'll find some html pages.

Massimo's response re the Question Mark is the best option but if you need it, you can find the documentation (html) by "right clicking" the QLC+ application
`> Show Package Contents> Contents > Resources > Documents > html`
Locate the Index.html and open in Safari etc.
This will give the help text but all the graphics will be missing as they are linked specifically for access from within Qlc+

I'm having this exact issue myself but on a Mac Pro running OSX 10.9.1. The DMX-USB card i have is recognised by QLC+ as a FT232R USB UART (S/N: AD01XXT9) but no DMX output. However the same card running in QLC+ in a Windows 7 virtual PC runs fine...but I need a Mac environment.

Can anyone recommend a USB-DMX controller that run without problems in a Mac OSX and QLC+ environment?
Paul Castelein

Hello Dave,
I face the same issues/problems as described above, this with an Open USB-DMX controller, though working fine with other software (on Mac OS X 10.9.1).
I also tried the Enttec DMX USB PRO controller, and that works without any problem !!!
Regards,
Paul
