Hi everybody, today seems to be a big day for me.
The Qt team merged my italian translation after more than 8 months...
But this is not quite the point.
Heikki Junnila, creator of QLC, today posted this: https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/qlc/ ... ?f=5&t=405
He calls it the end of an era but I don't personally think his contribution and the 12 years he spent on this project will ever have an end.
The whole QLC+ project has been possible thanks to him and I will always be grateful for this. I have had the opportunity to improve my C++/Qt programming skills and the chance to meet excellent people through this forum and not only. (I also met the worst and trained my patience )
**So, long live to QLC, the core of everything QLC+ is based on !**
I take the opportunity with this post to inform everybody who contributed to QLC+, that an imminent license change is taking place. QLC+ is switching from the old GPLv2 to Apache license 2.0. Several reasons are involved. One over all, the compatibility to other open source softwares, as open source projects are often willing to share their work between each other.
So, if anyone doesn't agree with this choice, please let me know within today and tomorrow.
Thank you very much and thank you especially to Heikki !
Long live to QLC (minus +) !
Out of interest am I right in saying the Appache license would offer more flexibility in distribution etc?
I would say so. More importantly, while the GPLv2 license is not compatible with modern licenses, the Apache 2.0 license is. It is also compatible with GPLv3, so it allows other developers to reuse QLC+ components and the other way round.
I've already done this by using a class I applied to improve XY pads.
That's another good thing of open source
